I used to love this app I ve used it on and off for over a year Lately it has been really laggy I get notifications of messages but I dont have them when I check my inbox My messages always tell me they failed to send but they people respond to my questions messages that failed to send I tried deleting it and downloading it again but now it s been stuck loading after I put my password in for the past 5 minutes         Lyssa Jane

So far I am loving this app I purchased a year membership because I want to support the app but I think I could have used it effectively without the membership Although having unlimited translations in app is very convenient I highly recommend participating in the moments posting your own and commenting and correcting other s posts This is how you ll make your new language exchange friends                     Bridget Blackburn

The app is good but it does have a lot to improve It crashes doesn t allow us to hear voice messages every now and then has lots of bugs The latest version Jesus I won t even mention it Plus it hasn t had any major great update since forever and it s REALLY VERY expensive to purchase I so would do it if it had a fair price for the lifetime subscription Other than that it s a good app to practice languages in general So only 3 stars for now             bob bobby

Used to be a pretty cool app to make new friends but now theyve stripped away all good features into a premium monthly service It went from one of the best language exchange apps to pay to play garbage One of the best aspects was finding groups of people near you looking for exchanges and having meetups Now its just random people from across the world that you have no connection with     Robert Blandford

HelloTalk my first impression was a positive one After becoming adjusted to the mechanic s of the app I found it enthralling knowing that I am slowly learning a new language Not only did I unknowingly have a reliable source to socialise with a lot of people from across the planet but I have a link to be able to read write speak and practice a new language with a native speaker The only con I can think of with the app is the audio length of 60 second is a little short 120 seconds is be                     Johnathon B

Faced an issue where my native language was changed The support team was quick to change it within a day The great thing about this app is you can post and add tags to get help from others The community here is super helpful It would be great if the chat or posts or chats could be selected or copied partially and linked to Pleco to allow word by word translation                     weisheng saw

Updating my review from 2018 This app is still my favorite one by far The creators made a superb language exchange app and try hard to keep it that way The support is friendly and helpful The community is rich if you figure out how to get in touch with multiple people around the world Tip Write helpful educational moments Setup your profile introduction properly People downgrade cause they can t use English as mothertounge living in and coming from non english speaking countries                     Lightning Star

I really like it and I have met a lot of very nice people who want to be helped and offer help back I also really enjoy the corrections element because it s a great way to learn I wish there was an edit option though for comments and corrections otherwise you have to delete your comment and submit again Otherwise I really enjoy the app and I m happy I found it Strongly recommend to anyone who is new to learning a language                 Maria K

Whatever you do make sure you DO NOT pay for the premium They are a rip off People post selfies all the time which have nothing to do with language exchange and they allow it I posted a selfie and they blocked all my moments from being shown to the public section So now when I have language questions or need help nobody will see them unless they follow me And I dont have many followers AS NOBODY SEES ANY OF MY MOMENTS TO BEGIN WITH I dont recommend the paid feature of this AT ALL         Anissa Perez

It is an interesting tool however it needs a desktop version on PC That would make it unique and easier to use EDIT Oh that is a nice one on one or group approach But I meant finding moments and helping others using the computer Thanks for your reply                 myuption

The app is really great and it s helping me to learn japanese It s great that I get to talk to native speakers I would have given the app full 5 stars if the in app player wasnt so bad I can t skip backwards or forwards easily Would like the seekbar to be raised a bit above so it doesn t interfere with the Android 10 gesture navigation                 Harsha Chandrashekaraiah

So far I like it although it does lag a few times but I guess it is different with other servers that cannot connect right away Other than that I have learned the language that I wanted to learn Some people are not too serious using it for their own playgroud To sell products which I guess is a quick way to sell something online I am giving it a 3 star I it is not bad but not the worst compared to other social media             Teresa R.

The way how they filter the moments is kinda ridiculous I understand they want to protect the app from controversial images but more than often it s a bit too much especially if you are a Vip user who pays for a subscription For instance anything that slightly resembles a human figure or face is blocked from the public moments timeline EDIT I never post selfies The problem happens with any photo that may contain human figures such as people in the street stylized human figures etc     Stef A

I think this is a good concept and a good way to connect language learners but I find the app extremely buggy and I suspect it eats up a lot of my processing power even if it s not being used I m also super suspicious of why when I click on links sometimes outside of the app it gives me the option to open with HelloTalk or my primary browser and this KEEPS happening even after I select always for the browser Something weird is going on and I ll be looking to use something less buggy         Devonn Patterson

This is good app really helps with languages learning But it is not perfect the freezing issue was solved by update to latest version in play store Navigation between chats and moments is not convenient I wish there were comments tree to see a structure of discussion and comments likes Chat and moments refresh may be confusing For example if you have connection interrupt when open some person profile the app may say that there is no moments but the moments appear after the profile reopen                 Eugenia Kuznetsova

It has started to glitch It had been working fine for a long time and then all of a sudden I was notified of a message I received went to go view it and it brought me to the loading screen and just glitch out until the screen went black I ve restarted my phone twice force stopped the app twice and tried to open the app from different sources and the same thing happens I recently uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no luck How unfortunate     Corbyn Harris

Good app made quite a bunch of friends and am learning a bunch of tips for the languages I m learning There just seems to be a problem with the way my messages get delivered or how I receive them The notifications don t always work and I even need to open the app to know if I have any messages Would very much like it if the notifications are fixed tnx             vincent cabuang

I have not used this app for nearly two weeks and hadn t used it for quite some time before that today I randomly am charged 32 99 for a membership I did not request nor authorize The only reason I logged in on the 5th was because i got a notification for something even though all notifications were turned off Refund my money     Julie Kellogg

I don t know why but I m not getting notification sound from this app only also and when my language partner calls me the app just shows me notification that too without any sound and not a full screen incoming call interface that s why I m not able to use the app as we have very short time duration to speak because we live on different time zones PLEASE FIX THE NOTIFICATION ISSUES                 Naushad Mohammed

HelloTalk makes unauthorized changes to your account I am an English speaker and grew up in the US When I joined HT I listed this information on my account However because I was living in Romania for a time HT decided to change my profile s native language and translator language to Romanian which I don t even speak without asking or informing me Furthermore HT is forever buggy and has become a dating app not one focused on language learning     Veronica Nitu

Great app love it Only problem is the ads are pornographic Mainly ebay ads that have naked ppl crazy they come up a lot too There are many varieties of this ad all are pornographic Upgrading will remove them so I think I ll do it bcz the app is worth it Just wish they filtered the ads a little better                 thomas ford

This is actually quite a good app and does what it says on the tin it allows you to message and speak to people around the world who are willing to help you learn their language The reason I only gave it 2 stars is because if like me you change phones they lose all your data and all the record of chats that you had I had lots of lessons stored and now they are all lost I am really upset         A Google user

Great app But I have recently discovered a bug I got logged out automatically after a few months Atter logging in I have lost all my chat and notification history I have seen many posts talking about this issue from other hallotalk users as well Update This bug is still not fixed I cannot contact hellowtalk from my chat as all the chat history is deleted It has continued getting deleted in every 2 3 days Update Yesterday I got logged out again Restore data didn t worked                 Rajib Sinha

This is a great app one of the best for what it does and im a VIP member of it One thing it needs to do better is monitoring the advertisements being posted some of them are not PG I understand the reason its not here but there should be an option for video posting in the moments section Considering how important listening skill is in teaching language it would be nice to post videos in English being able to show an item while learners can hear spoken English and see mouth position                     Craig Coster

it is a great app and im very greatful to be able to have actual conversations with native speakers its something that has helped my confidence in speaking spanish as well as actually helped my conversational knowledge downside is that there doesn t seem to have a block function for when some conversations are too much and they limit some of the more helpful things to paid users only                 V Roleplay
